Transforming problems into opportunities. An online Zoom event organized by Vaxandi, the Center for Social Innovation at the University of Iceland and Almannaheill, the association of the third sector.
Dr. Nick Spencer is Associate Professor of Design Innovation, at Northumbria University UK. His research is interested in navigating contested futures within complex social and organisational situations. Nick develops resilience within organisations and communities by establishing frameworks, capabilities, and behaviours to respond positively to challenging situations by scoping and defining new growth opportunities using creative practices. Nick’s research is novel in three aspects of design innovation: (1) adaption of design practices to mobilise multi-stakeholder multi-disciplinary networks of topic experts and non-experts to engage in co-creation; (2) enabling debate about the social consequences of innovation within a development process; and (3) creatively aligning capabilities and conflicting priorities to desirable and responsible outcomes.
